The locations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup have been revealed, with the occasion planned to occur across North Africa, Europe, and South America.
Morocco, Spain, and Portugal will act as the primary hosts, while Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay will facilitate the first three matches to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the tournament.
This will be the first World Cup organized across three continents, and all six countries mentioned will automatically secure their spots.
Uruguay hosted the inaugural World Cup in 1930, where they triumphed over Argentina in the final match. Paraguay’s participation is due to its role as the host of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) headquarters, the only confederation involved during the first tournament.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino has confirmed that the opening match will be held at Uruguay’s Estadio Centenario, which was built specifically for the 1930 event and also served as the final’s location. However, the Opening Ceremony will be held in either Morocco, Spain, or Portugal.
In 2026, Canada, Mexico, and the United States co-hosted the tournament, marking it as the only other World Cup with more than two host nations. The 2030 World Cup will be the first to include six host countries.
