Neymar first gained prominence at FC Barcelona years ago, playing alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. With his contract at Al Hilal set to expire in June, he has teased the possibility of reuniting with his old teammates at Inter Miami.
“Of course, playing with Messi and Suarez again would be amazing,” Neymar shared with CNN Sport. “They are my friends, and we still keep in touch. It would be thrilling to bring back this trio.
“I am content at Al Hilal and in Saudi Arabia, but who knows? Football is full of surprises.”
Despite his satisfaction in the Saudi Pro League, Neymar has barely stepped onto the field since his move from PSG to the Middle East. He suffered an ACL tear shortly after his arrival and has faced other injuries since then. Overall, Neymar has participated in only seven matches since signing in August 2023.
Considering his limited playing time, it’s difficult to envision Al Hilal extending a new contract to the 32-year-old. However, a shift to the MLS to join Inter Miami seems plausible, especially with David Beckham at the helm of the club. Messi and Suarez were exceptional for the Supporter’s Shield winners in 2024, yet the team faced an unexpected exit from the playoffs early against Atlanta United.
With Neymar likely becoming a free agent in the summer, returning to Europe appears unlikely. Despite still being a skilled player, the Brazilian international has had persistent health issues. This might be an opportune moment in his career to follow in the footsteps of his former Barcelona colleagues and make a move to the MLS.
Additionally, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets are also part of Inter Miami, presenting Neymar with plenty of familiar faces should he choose to reconnect with his old friends.
